Ulcerative colitis is an Inflammatory Bowel Disease which causes chronic inflammation to the parts of Rectum and Colon. This inflammation also leads to sores called ulcers. The ulcers may cause bleeding and discharge of mucus. Other names for the Ulcerative Colitis are Proctitis or Colitis. Usually, UC occurs when the lining of the Large Intestine(colon or bowel) and the Rectum become inflamed. If not treated initially, it spreads to upward to the Small Intestine. Abdomen Pain or Cramps

The primary symptom of the ulcerative colitis is Abdomen Pain. This chronic pain is common for the patients effecting from inflammatory bowel disease. Usually, this pain occurs before the bowel movement. Also, when you eat the spicy food or junk food that doesn’t suit you.

Bloody Stools

Bloody stools are the indication for the ulcerative colitis disease. Blood may come from anywhere along with the digestive track, i.e., from mouth to the anus. Bleeding that takes place in the stomach or the small intestine causes the stool to appear in black color. The bloody stools are due to the abnormal blood vessels, inflammation of the stomach lining, overgrown veins in the esophagus or stomach.

The person affecting from the ulcerative colitis will experience the weight loss condition. Loss of appetite, abdomen pain and diarrhea causes this condition. Hence you may feel weak and tired due to losing weight.


Malnutrition is one of the symptoms of the ulcerative colitis. It occurs to decrease the intake of food during UC condition. Hence proper nutrients and vitamins will not be supplied to the body results in malnutrition. So to avoid the malnutrition, you must consume proper diet.


Due to continuous vomitings and loose motions(bowel movements), fatigue is caused. It is defined as the feeling of exhaustion, lack of energy, tiredness, etc. People effecting from fatigue shows their feeling as hitting the wall.


Anemia is caused due to the deficiency of iron component in the blood. Due to bleeding in the bowel movements, the iron deficiency occurs. Without the iron, the bone marrow cannot make the red blood corpuscles. Hence Lowering of the RBC’s causes the anemia.
